Colleen Nixon & the Jasmine with The Seep Family Band
Sat Sep 29 8pm
Return to HōM eventsThe Junction welcomes Seep Family Band and Colleen Nixon & the Jasmine to the J@M House on September 29th at 8 PM. The Seep Family Band features Chris and Therese Seepersaud, a musical soulful duo that met at FSU's Jazz program and have been inseparable ever since. Therese's classical technique polishes her powerful voice which has been the match to Seep's eclectic guitar style for 10 years. They take jazz, pop, rock and reggae into their hearts and transform it spontaneously for every performance. Colleen Nixon is a singer/songwriter/jazz artist and Tallahassee, Florida’s home grown wild flower. Her original music is a genre all her own of pop/jazz/folk with influences ranging from Elton John, the Beatles & Joni Mitchell to Norah Jones, Sara Bareilas and David Gray. Colleen's music has been said to be for listeners young and old alike because it is “beautifully arranged and is seamlessly complementary with her vocals but her songs balance a care-free feeling with a depth of heart expressed by gratitude for the good things in life.” With her smooth, pure voice, the incredible musicians backing her up, and her original songs mixed with your favorite Jazz standards, it will be an evening of talent you won't want to miss. Colleen's band, "the Jasmine" is featuring Michael Bakan-drums, Joshua Cossette-piano and Jose Serrano-upright.
